I have been here before
I was alone, but never lonely
But that was a long time ago
When I once lived and danced on the shore
The wave that came
And swept me away
Unforgiving, treacherous I thought it would be
But the wave was kind and loving so
I decided I'll float and gave up my struggle
And slowly I kept falling
Into the depth of the unknown
It was warm and beautiful
Beyond pleasures known
I saw no end to this fall
Everyday every moment just a deep sleep call
Tiny particles of glittery water
Touching me, touching my soul
I would dance with bliss
And romance the seas
Together we went afar and deep.
Suddenly one day the water was cold
Was it me, was it you? we answered not
Unforgiving, treacherous that's what you became
And swiftly I started to rise from the depth
There was struggle, we both did
I to drown, you to lift
It was for the better you said
I was turning into a pearl to be forever lost, was I?
Had I consumed too much of you
And were you so much in love with the drowning body
That you were selfish enough to keep it?
It was for the better you said
That's the last we spoke
That's the last I romanced you
Touched you and danced with you
My dear wave
Who had swept me off this shore
Where you've put me back again
In the shore of loneliness where I am no more alone
Your memories will stay
As trees and sand and shells and rocks
On this strange shore
Where I once lived, but I recognise it not anymore
What did I do to keep going
In this solitary life where you just live to live?
I danced and smiled on some strange shore, I remember
But ever since, you my wave, had swept me off my feet
I could never call that shore home
Neither can I be on the edge of this stranger shore,
Only to be taken away by another treacherous wave
I'll stay, I'll stay in the deeper end
Collecting shells, collecting sand
And sometimes
I'll come to the shore, never to the edge again
And look for you
But how will I find you?
How will I know you are here to take me?
Do I want to go with you again?
Will you be the same again?
I'll ask myself and so,
I'll come to this strange shore
But never again to the edge
To be swept off by another treacherous wave.
I was alone, but never lonely
But that was a long time ago
When I once lived and danced on the shore
