Did you read my letter?

Hey!
Did you get the letter I wrote you?
I wrote beautiful things about our love
All true, all beautiful
I wrote about our fights
All true, all sinful
I wrote about your tears and a few of mine
And promised I'd give lesser tears to you
And in a note to self, I gave myself a larger share
And one supposed to be hidden from the world.
Did you read my letter?
I painted it with coffee,
So every time you open it
You smell the familiar scent of
That one thing I'm always surrounded by.
Did you like that letter?
Did it take you down the lanes of nostalgia?
Did it bring memories back, some sweet some sour?
Did it make you want to love me more?
Will you read that letter again?
Now that am gone, never to come back
Not because I can't, but because I won't
Because every word in that letter is now false
Every promise, every memory
Will you want to get me back
Or will you hate me harder
Will you promise to love me more if I came back
Or will we go down that same lane we went before?
What can that letter do to you now?
Will it stir feelings inside you
That change you and make you-
Make you want to make it all true again
Or will the distance grow with every bit of hesitation shown
Could that letter have changed anything?
I guess we'll never know.
You tore it to pieces to wipe out memories of me
And then you burnt every piece in a fire
And with every piece the words
Which were once true now false
We're nothing but ash.
Will you read my letter ag-
